"My work is a response to standing in a place of great natural beauty and trying as an artist to capture and share through my paintings the powerful impression that these places have had on me. Much of my work has been inspired by regular trips to the Highlands of Scotland, and one particular place called Loch an Eilean. This remote, unspoiled corner of the world moves and changes with the seasons but also remains the same as when I first saw it as a child. The paintings that emerge are more a sense of place than a literal translation of the landscape, the weather and time of year all affecting how the work develops."
