"My practice is founded on the observation of natural forms, including the human body and the landscape, but it is not the pictorial representation of these forms that I am primarily concerned with, rather it is the process, both visual and emotional, by which they become known.

It is as if there could be a language in multiple forms, a narrative of experience that is not a record of such, but a continuous moment of total presence.

My intention is to create an entry point into that confrontation with the moment, the eternal present, and at the same time to excite a sensory response to the reality behind change.

Colour is already an abstract language, as is music. Like Kandinsky, I recognise the spontaneous revelation that colour can initiate in an improvisatory context and so I seek to engage with it in that way.

Something can be touched that is outside the world by touching the world. That is part of the history of painting. In connecting with that we connect with an ancient tradition of being human, engaging with the unknown, looking to what is 'beyond' to bring us to wholeness."
