Ever since she can remember, Sarah Simpson wanted to paint. Her earliest childhood memories revolve around visits to her aunt's house in Liverpool, which was full of painters and paintings, resulting in the thought "I want to be an artist and one day I will go there."
Sarah studied at Liverpool College of Art and subsequently moved to London, where she completed a BA Hons. degree in Fine Art painting at Chelsea College of Art.
Her professional life involved working for some years as an illustrator, then she specialised in restoring antique ceramics for some of the leading auction houses in London.
In 1988 she returned to her own painting and retrained as an art teacher, specialising in working with children.
Her work has "a hint of narrative, a kind of still life with a glimpse of memory, sometimes an air of mystery, of feelings and dreams".
